The Literacy tab will provide information regarding the Rich Texts that children will be reading, the genres they will be creating and information relating to assessments and tips to support your child at home.

In Semester 1, student will be studying History.

Students will identify significant people and events in their own lives and how these are celebrated of commemorated. To demonstrate their understanding, students will be able to draw significant people in their lives and share why they are important. Students will share stories or role play how they celebrate special events.

They will pose questions, and sort and record information from observations. Students will share their perspectives and draw conclusions. To show their understanding will sequence event and share stories from the past.

During Literacy lessons, students will engage in a series of Rich Texts to support their understanding of this subject area. Some of these texts are listed on the Literacy tab. Their learning will also be enhanced through the use of Investigations and excursions.

In Semester 1, student will be studying Biological Science.

Students will make observations of plants and animals and group them based on their features. They will discover what people and animals need to survive, consider similarities and differences between the two, and identify shelter as being essential for survival. To demonstrate their learning, students will share their observations and findings.

Students will group plants and animals based on external features, pose questions and make predictions based on their experiences.

Students will also engage in Rich Texts during Literacy lessons to deepen their knowledge. Investigations will also provide students opportunities for hands-on, play-based learning opportunities.
