We are a medium sized school with a student population of approximately 400 students that offers a ‘small school’ personalised approach for students in Preschool to Year 6. Wanguri Primary School is situated in the heart of Darwin’s Northern suburbs and primarily supports students who live in our priority enrolment area.
We are a dynamic school that has continuously improved and transformed our facilities and learning programs to reflect the exciting and challenging local and national educational agendas.

In Week 9 of Term 4, the Wanguri Primary School students attended their Year 6 Graduation.  The school captains both wrote beautiful speeches about their time here at Wanguri. These speeches are available for you to read below.

Welcome teachers, students, parents, families and guardians.
My name is Aska, and I have had the privilege to be school captain this year. In 2019 I started at Wanguri Primary School. I immediately felt welcomed by the staff and students, and I was made to feel part of the community. I couldn’t imagine going to a more welcoming school. For instance, this can be felt from the moment you walk through the office and right throughout the whole school.
I would like to say thank you to the teachers for all the extra efforts you make to help us grow, and the challenges you encourage us to face to help us become who we are. We will always be grateful to you for your support and kindness.
I have learnt a lot this year. For instance, I have learnt never verse Mr. Pittaway in Red Rover or else he will hunt you down like a hawk.
Also, never challenge Mr. Chris at dodgeball or you will end up on the side line.
We have just about finished our primary school days. We have been given so many amazing skills both academically from our teachers, and also life skills to take forward into middle school. It is now up to us to choose where we go with those skills.
“You’re off to great places, today is your day
Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way.”
Enjoy this day and good luck to everyone in middle school.
Good Morning and welcome Parents, teachers and students to Wanguri Primary School 2021 Graduation.
First of all I would like to say a big congratulations to all of the year 6 students, we have achieved a lot over the last 8 years of our schooling. Some of you started here in preschool and others like me have joined along the way but together we have become a great group of friends.
So what have we achieved?
In the last year…
We have had at least over 160 hours of math, about 240 hours of reading, writing and spelling and 40 hours each of PE and arts. We created amazing science fair projects and artworks. We have participated in Fun Runs, sports carnivals book weeks and many many assemblies – Not to forget the hundreds of games of red rover, mole and dodgeball.
But we didn’t do this by ourselves.
We have some amazing people who helped us through the year.. Our teachers, and I would especially like to thank our year 6 teachers.. so could we all give them a huge round of applause.
Our teachers have taught us, helped us deal with friendship problems, put up with our bad moods and helped us become better people.
I would also like to thank our parents for waking us everyday, making sure we have food for our school and supporting us every step of our primary school life.
Lastly I would like to thank all the students. One of the most important things I will take from Wanguri is the wonderful friendships and memories I have made.
Thank You.
